December 8 The Ultimate Gift

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10 NIV

Christmas is a time for reflection, the birth of Jesus Christ, the promise that God our Father gave to the people of Israel so many years ago. It was His gift to the world. He promised a Savior.

Christmas brings so many emotions – happiness, elation, kindness, thoughtfulness and the I-can’t-wait-for-Christmas-morning-to-open-the-gifts. Let us not forget the ultimate Gift that was given to us, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. It should also bring a time for remembering the nearly one thousand promises that God has made, gave, and fulfilled. Each and every one of them are in His word.

We all have received many gifts from God, but sometimes we forget what God has given us. At this time of year and all year, may we cherish and remember this special gift from God.

Lord, while wrapping presents, gathering with friends and family, may we remember to serve others because of the Gift You gave to us, our Savior Jesus Christ.

Merry Christmas
