Judy Watters

Judy Watters retired as Secondary Principal of Living Rock Academy in June of 2017. Prior to that, she had taught high school English, Drama, Speech, and Yearbook for 15 years at Bracken Christian School. However, before that, she spent many years teaching in a variety of grade levels from kindergarten to 12th grade.

Judy has published three books with two more on the way. As founder of Ladies of Legacy and Hill Country Christian Writers, Judy helps aspiring writers to overcome deficiencies in writing and to hone their craft. She owns Franklin Scribes Publishers where she has led many authors to publication. As a freelance writer, Judy has been published in The Wellsboro Gazette, Story Circle Network Journal, Inside and Out Anthology, Hillside Christmas Devotional Anthology, and Guidepost publications. For four years, she wrote stories and tests for Forde Ferrier, the writers of the STAAR testing for public schools in the state of Texas. She has written two business manuals for 2 different companies. In her freelance editing, she has enjoyed working with many authors to edit their books;  she also edits resource guides and tests for Texas Pentathlon/Octathlon and Lone Star Competitions.

Judy spent the first eighteen years of her life on the family’s small farm snuggled into the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania. Her total sanguine personality has been married to her phlegmatic Larry for thirty-three years (a lot of good writing material there, later maybe!). They are the proud parents of three adult “children” (more material) and have “adopted” their awesome daughter-in-law and two grand-cats.

Currently, she teaches the Ladies of Legacy, an on-going women’s memoir writing class and is co-leader of Hill Country Christian Writers. She is a member of Story Circle Network, SCBWI and a board member of Living Rock Academy.
