Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:13 NASB

Christmas is the celebration of the first coming of Jesus Christ. From my childhood to now, Christmas is the most anticipated day of my year. The decorations, gifts under the tree, meal preparations, and travel plans all point to this most important celebration. As I married and my family grew from two to fifteen, our favorite traditions continue. My goal to recreate the warmth and love of this cherished holiday has been my delightful challenge.

Yet in this upcoming year, a new challenge is before me. The challenge is making Christ’s second return the most anticipated day of my life. Just like my family finds me prepared for Christmas day, my desire is for Jesus to find me prepared and ready with my heart decorated with the fruits of the Spirit, my gifts and talents opened and used, and all my preparations and plans pleasing to His heart. My goal is to always be as excited each day as if it were the time of His return. As I look forward to His second coming, may Jesus find me walking in a manner worthy of His calling, living each moment in confidence and hope, knowing He promised to return.

Lord, help me live each day in anticipation of Your return.
