Unto Us

For unto us a child is born,

unto us a Son is given and the government

shall be upon his shoulders

and his name shall be called Wonderful,

Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Prince of Peace.

 Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)

What do those words mean?   That God loved us so much he gave us His Son, born of a Virgin, so long ago, yet we still celebrate His birth.

Have we forgotten the true meaning of Christmas?

I have spent many Christmas’ alone and it gave me time to think what God did for me. He sent His Son for one purpose only to save me from my sins.  This was and is a true love, a love that I cannot fully comprehend.   This is the true meaning of Christmas, the true sound of Christmas.

So long ago, He sent an angel to tell the Shepherds in a field that the Savior, yes, the Messiah, the Lord, had been born in Bethlehem. That was the Sound of Christmas.

There is more: “Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others – the armies of heaven – praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.’” Luke 2:8-14 (NLT)

Father, I ask that you teach us to listen

to the Sound of Christmas

and keep the true meaning of Christmas

 in our hearts all year.
